PodQ Limited · Gaun · Alpha · Last changed 3 September 2026
Gaun is an iPhone app that keeps what you tell it, from spoken notes, meetings and email, as a record you can ask questions of. To do that it has to hold personal data: yours, and that of the people you talk about. This page says what is held, why, where, and how to get rid of it. It is written for an alpha, in plain words, and it will change as the product does. When it changes, the date above changes with it.
Who is responsible
PodQ Limited operates Gaun and is the controller of the data described here. Write to [email protected] for anything to do with this page.
What Gaun holds
- Your account. The email address you sign in with, your Gaun address and its aliases, and the settings you choose.
- What you give it. Spoken notes and their transcripts, emails sent to your Gaun address, and anything you type or forward. Each is kept as a source, with the date and who it came from.
- What it works out. The people, companies, projects, problems and findings Gaun reads out of those sources, each pointing back at the source and the sentence it came from, and what Gaun infers about how you work, marked as inference until you confirm it.
- Operational records. Server logs with request times, errors and the IP address a request came from, kept for thirty days to keep the service running and to investigate faults.
What it is used for
One thing: giving you your own record back, with its sources. Your data is not used for advertising, is not sold, is not shared with other Gaun users, and is never used to train a model, whether ours or a third party's.
Who else processes it
Gaun runs on servers rented from a cloud hosting provider in the European Union, where your data is stored encrypted at rest and moves only over encrypted connections. Transcribing speech and reading sources use third-party AI services. Your text is sent to them for that purpose only, under terms that forbid them from keeping it or training on it. Mail to your Gaun address is received by an email provider that hands it to Gaun and does not keep it. We will publish the list of these providers before Gaun leaves alpha.
Email sent to your address
Gaun reads only mail sent to your Gaun address or one of its aliases. It does not connect to your mailbox, calendar or contacts. Anyone whose message is copied to your address is sending it to a service that keeps it on your behalf; it is your responsibility to use the address where that is appropriate.
Other people in your record
Your record will describe people who are not Gaun users, because you talked about them. Gaun holds that on your instruction and for your use only. If someone asks what your record says about them, that is a question for you, and Gaun makes it possible to answer by showing every statement with its source.
Deleting things
You can delete a source, a person, a company or any single statement from inside the app, and it is removed from your record at once. Corrections keep their history so a wrong removal can be undone; a deletion does not. You can delete your whole account from the app, or by writing to us. Deleted data is gone from backups within thirty days. Server logs expire on their own schedule, above.
Your rights
You can ask for a copy of everything Gaun holds about you, ask for it to be corrected, ask for it to be deleted, and object to how it is processed. Write to [email protected] and a person will answer within a month. If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom you can also complain to your data protection authority.
